Yum… Mud Pie!

February 19, 2011

“Mom, can you make mud pie?”

I hear that a lot.

Last weekend, before Valentine’s Day, I even bought the stuff to make mud pie for my boys… I just didn’t get around to it.

But today.

Today I made it.

And I have a feeling that I’m going to have three happy boys in my house after dinner tonight.

Here’s the {un-Pioneer Womanish} recipe:

Grandma Dawn’s {super easy} Mud Pie Recipe

25-30 Oreos (chopped or crushed)

3/4 stick of butter, melted

1 container of Coffee ice cream (or mint chocolate chip, or cookies and cream, or anything else that sounds good!)

Magic shell or Hershey’s syrup for topping

Grease a pie plate or cake pan.

Mix together crushed Oreos with melted butter, then spread it in the pie plate.

(Make sure to coat the sides and bottom evenly, so it’s easier to cut)

As the ice cream is defrosting on the counter, stick the crust in the freezer.

Set a timer for 20 minutes. Stay away from the Oreos that are left.

When the timer goes off, scoop the ice cream into the Oreo crust. If the ice cream is still hard, put it in the microwave for 30 seconds or so.

Top with Magic shell or Hershey’s syrup.

You’ll have to take the pie out of the freezer about 10 minutes before you plan on eating it.

You’re welcome :)

Mud Pie is one of my all time favorites. For reals. Of course, I’d add some whipped cream, but we can’t all be dairy fans. ;)
