Today, Mom could be found at the zoo with 2 of the cutest boys in Arizona:

Then it was off to get pretty at the salon. Jack was a trooper and went with me; we had 3 hours to play with sticker books, watch shows and play games on the ipod touch, and get spoiled by my hairdresser (who loves to pass him candy).

Why, yes, I did just post a picture of myself with foils in my hair. I may regret that in the morning.

Can you spot the new dimple under Jack’s left eye from when he fell into the coffee table 2 months ago? Ouch.

After getting home and eating dinner, Michael and I hung out on the couch (and read some more of the Percy Jackson book).

I am thinking about adding a tag that says “make-up free Mom” so that you guys can expect the shiny face…

Mom has been on the couch with Michael reading The Lightening Thief for the past few nights.

(Michael loves it, but Mom thinks it’s a teensy bit scary)

We’re determined to finish before Friday so that we can have a family (Mom, Dad, and Michael) date night and go see the movie.

Jack will be ditching us for his girlfriend across the street – They’re having a sleepover.

Apparently her mother hasn’t learned her lesson with Jack living across the street… She invited him over!!

Let’s all say it together… “Sucker!!”

Just kidding.

Kind of.

The kids are off for Rodeo break today and tomorrow, which means that Mom doesn’t spend too much time on her appearance. We have been way too busy having fun to worry about silly stuff like make-up.

Because of that, I played with Picnik a little…  I have been trying to figure out how people put color back into their black and white photos, so it was fun to have some time to do that.

And…  do you see that that new little box to your right?

Go look. I’ll wait.

I’ve been very busy with that this week, and I can’t wait to tell you all about it.

This week, Mom was spotted a couple of times.

The first was on Valentine’s Day, when she went out to dinner with her one and only:

And the second was Wednesday, when the temperature hit 75 degrees and a trip to Dairy Queen was in order.

The boys laughed and laughed at Mom’s hair flying out of the sunroof!

There’s nothing better than a trip to Dairy Queen after school – before dinner – on a warm day.

Well, rolling the windows down and pretending your hand is an airplane takes a close second.

Mom is super-proud today.

Michael earned straight A’s on his recent progress report and earned a slot in the top 3 of his class in the science fair.

Do you know what he asked to do to celebrate?

Go to work with Mom.

Seriously. That’s all he wanted.

I let him skip his Valentine’s Day party and half day at school and come see the world of middle school speech therapy.

Proud, proud Mama today.

I saw these yesterday morning on Christie’s blog (who got the idea from Alyssa), and we had the picture taken and printed by last night.

Oh, and a computer update – I got my laptop back, upgraded my iPhoto software, and guess what happened?

I got back 352 pictures!!

I have no idea how, or why those photos were the “chosen ones,” and neither does my Mac guy. But I don’t care.  I got ‘em!

This week, Mom was celebrating with some of her favorite people!

My friend best friend sister (in the “we have different Moms, but are totally sisters” way) Kristin recently turned 40 (yes, you read that right. It’s not fair. She doesn’t look 40) and in true Kristin fashion, she decided to have a party in the park, complete with egg races:

and almost 100 hot dogs! See my boy there? He grilled all. day. long. He loved it. Oh, and that guy next to him? Kristin’s husband. The same guy that redesigned my beautiful blog button and made me my very own twitter button! Go ahead… look on my sidebar… I’ll wait a second.

So, everyone had a great time, and when we got home we all passed out from exhaustion.

Mom has had a busy week! Yesterday, we got away from it all by joining some friends at the Tucson Children’s Museum.

We (meaning Jack) climbed rock walls, “drove” a real Police motorcycle, stared dinosaurs in the face, manned a submarine, and worked in a veterinarian’s office. Whew!

Oh, and yes, those are the pants. Just in case you’re wondering.

Mom is back at work! It really is nice to get out of the house a couple of times a week… and I get to hang out with other people’s kids, too. That’s kind of fun.

Today, I had a student tell me “PE is much more important than speech. You should let me out of speech every week because I keep missing PE.”

Priorities, priorities…

The school that I work at is about 1 mile away from where Jack goes to preschool. We have been talking all (school) year about how I could pick him up for lunch, but it hasn’t panned out until this week. I was so excited!

I arrived at his school right before lunch and went out to the playground to get him. Are you ready for this?

Jack: “Mom, can you let me have lunch here today?”

Mom: “But Jack, I thought you wanted to go to Subway with me for lunch.”

Jack: “I did, but now I want to play with Zander.”

Mom: “How about we go to lunch and you can play with Zander when you get back?”

Jack: “Ohkay…….”

I think he had fun.

But today when I walked him in to school, he looked up at me and said, “Mom, you’re going to let me have lunch here today, right?”

Where’s Mom this week?

Mom and Michael thought it would be fun to do a local Jingle Run – I ran the 5k (with Stephanie) and Michael and I had planned to run the 1k together  - with Jingle bells on our shoes!

I say planned because I did plan to run with him. Until he left me in the dust.

I guess he didn’t realize that race didn’t really mean race.

And we were he was off!

I was able to cut across the course and catch up with him while he caught his breath. I tried to give a quick summary of what “pacing” meant…

But that obviously didn’t work because this is where I stayed for the rest of the race…

Way behind Speedy the Sprinter.

Maybe we’ll try again next year. I’m thinking a relay might be fun…
