Mom is back at work! It really is nice to get out of the house a couple of times a week… and I get to hang out with other people’s kids, too. That’s kind of fun.

Today, I had a student tell me “PE is much more important than speech. You should let me out of speech every week because I keep missing PE.”

Priorities, priorities…

The school that I work at is about 1 mile away from where Jack goes to preschool. We have been talking all (school) year about how I could pick him up for lunch, but it hasn’t panned out until this week. I was so excited!

I arrived at his school right before lunch and went out to the playground to get him. Are you ready for this?

Jack: “Mom, can you let me have lunch here today?”

Mom: “But Jack, I thought you wanted to go to Subway with me for lunch.”

Jack: “I did, but now I want to play with Zander.”

Mom: “How about we go to lunch and you can play with Zander when you get back?”

Jack: “Ohkay…….”

I think he had fun.

But today when I walked him in to school, he looked up at me and said, “Mom, you’re going to let me have lunch here today, right?”

Happy Thanksgiving!

I thought it was appropriate to post a picture this week with the top three things that I am thankful for…

Black_White

Thing 1, Thing 2, and Thing 3.

There are so many more things that I am thankful for!!!

If you’re reading this post, you can be sure that you’re one of them.

I’m sick.

Miserable, whiny, notshuttingupaboutit sick.

Obviously, my kids have not seen this sign, which I placed in my front yard Monday:

Just kidding. We live in the desert, remember?

Anyway, I am holding my “Where’s Mom” count at 11.

Yup, holdin’ steady.

Not fair, you say?

You’re not the one with a red nose, chapped lips, and sunken-in eyes.

Seriously, it’s not so much the vanity. I’m just too tired to find the camera and round up the little guys.

So come back next week.

Promise it’ll be a good one.

Mom is enjoying the first day of 90 degree temps (that’s chilly, if you’re wondering) and playing at the park with the kids!

She’s in the kitchen, playing with Picnik, and loving her new laptop skin!

Yes, I’m late. If you don’t know by now, I am always late. I believe that the Thursday “Where’s Mom” deadline just doesn’t mesh with my schedule most of the time. So this week, I’m making my own schedule.

Where’s Mom?

Mom was not feeling well Thursday or Friday, but managed to get out of bed and run with some wonderful friends (Andrea, Heidi, and Tracie) this morning.

How did it go?

I knew you would ask.

Let’s just say that I finished.

My goal at the beginning of the race was to finish before the 70-something year old man that was standing next to us at the starting line. I met that goal.

Barely. :-)

*I think it’s worth mentioning that my amazing friend Chelsea won a medal for fastest time in her age group!  Go Chelsea!!!*

Yes, I know it’s Friday. And yes, I know that I was supposed to post a picture yesterday (you know, being Thursday and all). So, bare with me. It’s been a crazy week.

I am posting one of my favorites. Michael and I during “Mom and Michael day” this summer.

New one next week, Mom… promise.

Where’s mom?

She’s out to dinner with Dad, celebrating 12 wonderful years of married life together!

No, I didn’t forget. I did procrastinate, though. And it’s only WEEK 2!

So, if you were ever wondering what you would look like after working all day, coming home for an hour and getting a 9 year old ready for swim practice, inhaling dinner, driving 40 minutes to swim, and sitting by the pool in 100 degree heat for 2 hours, it’s probably something like this:

Aren’t you proud of me for not making this a tiny thumbnail picture?

Note to self: Next Thursday, take a picture in your pretty work clothes and stop procrastinating.

The pictures can only get better from here.

I’m not one to hand someone a camera and ask for a picture.

Just this week I was reminded of the fact that after 4 weeks, I still haven’t brought a family picture to Jack’s preschool classroom for his “family wall.”

Oops.

It’s not that I don’t take pictures. I take about 25 pictures a week. 12 ½ of Jack and 12 ½ of Michael. And me? I’m right behind that camera for everything they do. Cute, funny, and naughty… I’m behind the camera.

Today I brought a picture of Michael and Jack on the first day of school for Jack’s “family wall.” Hey! Michael counts as family, right? I know that’s not what they meant, but it’s hard to get the WHOLE family in a picture! The last one we have is from Christmas, and it wasn’t meant to be put on a bulletin board. I have one of Jack, Michael, and Steve, but I didn’t want to be the only one not in the picture. Hence, you have the brother picture.

The picture on my About Me page? It took 2 weeks and about 30 tries… and I still don’t like it. But will my kids care that the wind was blowing my hair like I had a “fashion model fan” in front of my face? Will they care that I looked like I was squinting because the sun was so bright? No, they’ll just like to see a picture of their Mom.

So, for them, I am committing to the 52 week challenge. Every week for 52 weeks, I will step in front of the camera. I take my camera EVERYWHERE. There’s really no excuse to NOT take a picture every week. Because when I am old and wrinkly (or old and Botoxed) I want my kids to remember who was holding the camera all that time.
