Spilling A Secret and Learning About Arizona 529 – Tween/Teen tuesday

October 30, 2012

This week’s Tween/Teen Tuesday linky has a special (and important) message! Watch my vlog to find out how I am saving for Michael and Jack’s college education, and don’t forget to link up your tween and teen posts below!

Arizona 529 Savings plan

My husband and I are keeping a big secret from the boys…

No, I’m not going to tell you what it is – you have to watch my first vlog to find out!

A note about my comment referring to grandparents donating – family in any state can donate, but only people in the same state as the child can use it as a tax donation.

As promised, here are your links:

We keep telling the boys that after high school, they can choose the college they go to… but I think they have their minds set already.

Arizona 529 college savings plan

Tell me… how are you saving up for college?

I was compensated to provide information about the Arizona 529 Savings plan as part of the #AZ529 College Savings Month Blog Tour. As always, any and all opinions are my own and I don’t recommend lying to your kids unless it has to do with college being non-negotiable. They’ll appreciate it when they’re older.

Great vlog Becca! We have been using the NY529 program for a few years now. It’s easy to enroll and, once you’re linked up to Upromise, a percentage of some of your purchases are added to the kids’ accounts. It’s awesome!

Thank you, Melissa! I didn’t think about linking to UPromise – I’ll have to see if we can do that here!

Ryan’s parents have a savings account for Hunter from back when he was little that all birthday money and christmas money goes into. He never even sees it.

My dad has account for the 4 youngest kids (Boo, Leo and my niece and nephew) that he puts Christmas money into (well they get a crisp $2 bill each birthday too). This has helped us a TON since we are not able to save much for them for College.

Hunter knows that he has an account he can’t touch til he is 18/graduates that is for school. If he doesn’t want to use it for school grandma has to sign off on anything he uses it for since she is on the account (sneaky grandma).

We haven’t saved anything for our kids yet. We need to, but our kids also can attend certain colleges for free because of my husband’s veteran status.

Both sets of grandparents have set up savings accounts for the kids and contribute for their birthdays and other holidays. It’s such a wonderful idea.

What a fantabulous idea. How about Grandparents that want to go back to college? Can I do that? Seriously, a great idea for Grandparents and parents to get involved early on. Thank you

Great idea to start saving for college early on by taking advantage of savings programs like AZ529! I especially love that relatives in the same state can put donations toward their college plans as well. So awesome!

P.S. I love your curly hair! Too cute!
