#projectready for the science fair!

January 28, 2011

Being the Mom of school aged kids, the science fair is something that can’t be avoided.

It’s usually dreaded around here. I’ll be the first to admit.

The procrastination.

The… procrastination.

That’s it.

But seriously?

It seems like kids wait until the very last minute to complete any project!

This school year, we started the science fair season in September.

Our school had a huge parent/child meeting where we received information about the project, had the opportunity to purchase tri-fold boards, and even earned 25 extra points towards the project for attending!

Michael, my 5th grader, had an idea for what he wanted to do right away.

Click below to look at my Whrrl of Michael’s project idea and how we started:

I’ll be back with Part 2 next week, along with a video interview of Michael!

We are just signing Boo up for her “Learning Fair”, and she has so many ideas…she has a hard time reigning them in to one workable idea.

I just have to point out what may be obvious: your child’s science teacher *probably* hates science fair just as much as you do!

You’re officially 10 times a better mom than I am. That was so cute. I ALSO have a 5th grade boy who also has a science fair project due in 2 weeks (from today. Oh god.). I wrote up our progress last week: http://realestatetangent.com/my-life-is-a-science-fair-project/ Clearly things are not going nearly as well at our end of the block. How do you do it?

We are major procrastinators here too, its a skill my kids unfortunately learned from me.
