c. Snake! Hard to see, but he’s in there. I promise.
Just to be sure that we’re all on the same page here, I have never caught a snake before because Steve has always been home to catch them. It’s not something that I have aspired to do.
Today we found this little guy in the garage, and I couldn’t “un-see” him because the kids saw him, too.
So, I did what any girl in the desert would do…
I picked up the snake stick, yelled “get me the snake bucket and the camera!” and chased the thing around the garage for 20 minutes.
You do what you need to do, I tell ya’.
Oh, and did you see what Steve found in the pool this morning?
Yes, that’s 8 INCHES.
Holy …. moley.
So, yeah. In one day, this is the tally:
One millipede/centipede/nastypede.
And because I know you’re all wondering…
1. Dykstraboys: No it’s not a rattlesnake (sorry)
2. Yes, Jack asked to keep him (I said until Dad gets home)
3. Yes, Jack wanted to feed the centipede thing to the snake. I talked him into giving it a dead Japanese beetle. (see, Noah? Taking good care of him!)
So, who’s coming to visit?

A) I love that you said ‘Get me the camera!’ Because naturally I would have as well.
B) The multi-legged thing is WAY more disgusting than the itty-bitty snake. Way more.
C) I just had to put my shoes back on because I’m so grossed out by the legs. Blech!
you are one brave woman! I dare say that the nastypede is the most disgusting bug-like-creatures I have ever seen.
you go becca!! ick!!
BRING IT ON! Actually, you can keep the nastypede… they are creepy. And snakes are evil. True story. God said so.
i have never commented before but i must now! you are in the club girlfriend…good job! see my album labled snakey snake on fb :) love it! and love the pics…
Aww! Good work, Becca!! Patchnosed snakes are super fast, so it’s awesome you were able to catch it! I don’t know if it would want to eat a beetle, though…maybe a mouse or rat or lizard…?
ps- if Jack still wants a snake, we have a pregnant Rosy Boa at home… should have a clutch of live babies any day! ;)
mmhm, and they can stay there in the Desert too. I would have taken the photos too. Eight inches, nasyt!
Oh my word you guys sure get some critters over there!!! Eeeek! I don’t know how you did it!
