Larry The Lizard {A Wordful Wednesday post}

August 3, 2010

Meet Larry:

We found him climbing our house this evening.

Larry is a very brave lizard.

I know this because he obviously saw Jack from up there on the wall, and still decided to come down to say hello.

The boys had just dried off from swimming and were so excited to play with their new pet.

You see, we don’t get many lizards in our backyard (because of our lizard chasing dogs).

Can you tell how excited the boys were?

It’s funny… Larry moved a lot more when Jack was holding him.

I think he was trying to escape.

Here’s Jack concentrating on not. dropping. the. lizard.

When Michael held Larry, he didn’t move an inch.

Again:

Michael:

and Jack:

Michael:

Jack:

Do we all see how this story is ending?

We played with the lizard for about 40 minutes.

Jack liked the name Larry The Lizard (first, middle, and last), but Michael liked “Little Dude.”

Jack liked to see where Larry would “stick” to him.

Michael liked to watch the little dude breathe.

The boys took turns with Larry.

During Jack’s last turn, well… see for yourself.

Larry T. Lizard dropped his tail.

They do that when they’re terrified, you know.

It happened right about the time Jack tried to get the lizard to climb up his back.

Michael came to the rescue, and put Larry back on the house where we found him.

Minus a tail.

What a cute little lizard! It’s neat that your boys were able to hold and play with him!

I love the concentration and amazement in their eyes. As for the lizard losing his tail when scared, I am so very surprised that Gracie and Rielly still have theirs after being with Jack for almost 6 years.

I had no idea that lizards lost their tail when afraid. Very interesting.

Cute post. :)

My kids would be so fascinated with all the critters running around. It’s so interesting to see how each handles the lizard.

Do you think I could be part lizard but instead of dropping my tail I could drop my fupa? that would be cool.

Love the comparisons between the boys. Made me laugh out loud

Adorable! :) I think the lizard may be a little more apprehensive, next time he sees the boys. ;)

LOL! I love how you told the story! My in-laws get a ton of lizards in their back yard and my kids like to shoot them off the wall with water guns. LOL

I want to be a lizard and drop some off my tail!

I knew their tails grow back but I had no idea they could just fall off like that – too much! Glad he was willing to ‘play’ for a while. Great shots!

Still, think of the great stories Larry can tell the other lizards about his adventures with your sons!

Awesome photo collection! WE love lizards too. As a matter of fact, my hubby and I were watching a mating pair out the window of a resort while at a reception last weekend. What great entertainment! Love ‘em on our brick back wall too. These are scrapbookable!

Larry the Lizard made me cringe. Even from here. It was on his face for goodness sake.
