As I was catching up on my blog reading today, I saw Stephanie’s post about what her family does for fun in the summer when it’s too hot to go outside.
And after I commented (because you always comment on the blogs you read, right?) and moved onto my next blog, Steve caught my attention and pointed to Jack.
Jack was copying Jerry (from Tom and Jerry) on the tv. Everything Jerry did, Jack did.
This wasn’t the first time he has done it, but it was definitely the most energetic he had been.
He ran around the living room when Tom was chasing Jerry.
When someone was dragging Jerry around on a blanket, Jack slid around the living room floor like someone was dragging him.
When Jerry pretended to scream…
So did Jack.
In a perfect example of how different my kids are…
This morning at 4:25 a.m., Michael’s alarm went off. Since I heard it first (from across the house), I woke him up and we went outside to quietly and calmly watch the partial lunar eclipse.
At 4:30 in the morning, it was warm. Very warm. But comfortable.
I tried and tried to get a picture of the eclipse. It was blurry and shadowy to look at, so it was very difficult to get a photo of.
But here was my best:
If I had been… you know… really awake that early, I would have snapped a picture of the two of us.
So, that’s what we do when it’s too hot to go outside during the day.
We re-enact Tom and Jerry and go outside at 4:30 in the morning.

Becca..it is never too hot for me..ask your Mom, I drive her crazy..she has FORBIDDEN me to wear turtle necks to the gym…love your blogs..keep em comin…
Let’s see……too hot to go outside – never too hot here – just humid – but when it is 90 with a breeze Lola and I go walking instead of going to the gym…..work outside…then take three showers during the day – but if I had a pool like you guys – I would be in it – but i wouldn’t watch Tom and Jerry unless Jack and Michael were here. And I WOULD NOT wear a TURTLE NECK. Because if Lola ever wears a turtle neck to the gym I am going to pull the neck up over her head and suffocate her. And I would tie it on top of her head with a “Scrunchie”

Seriously though – I am so glad you and Michael got up to see eclipse – and how funny that Jack likes Tom and Jerry so much – the older the cartoons, the better. And the only thing I get up for at 4:30 in the morning to see the the toilet because when you get old like me, that’s what happens and you should be glad I don’t have a camera for that.
I’m terrible at this stuff! Um… when it is hot, we do try to do our outside stuff early (but not crazy early thankyouverymuch). And, we shop. Stores have great AC.

My boys LOVE Tom and Jerry. They just watched it before going to bed this evening. Something tell me our boys would get along fabulously! Not a whole lot could get me out of bed at 4:30 am, but you sure got a great picture of it! Kudos!

I envy you and your pool. Here it is 5:59 AM and I know we need to get our bottoms outside soon if it is going to happen at all. But I love my Sunday mornings laying (okay sitting) around reading the newspaper while Soren zones in front of the cartoons. Should I just let no exercise be okay, or teach him to run about like Tom and Jerry inside?
I had to laugh at this one! Riley does the same thing while watching Tom and Jerry!! Can you imagine the two of them watching it together?!!
How awesome! I’m glad you actually got up to see the eclipse! That’s a great memory for Michael. :)
I’m just sitting here counting down the minutes until you guys get out here. It has not been too hot to go outside here…. and hopefully, the weather will continue to be kind to us, while you visit! I hope also, that Jack can save some of his antics to share with us. Love you guys! <3
4:30 am…simply insane! I hate that time…to early for me!
