Celebrating “uniqueness.”

June 18, 2010

Earlier this month, I participated in a meme about things that make me happy.

I thought it would be fun to make another list.

I thought about making a list of 10 things that make me unhappy, but that just seemed like a downer.

So I thought a bit.

I’ve been told that I have “quirks.”

And I thought that if there was anyone who would love hearing about my quirkiness, it would be you guys.

You ready?

10 things that make me “unique.”

10. I really, really dislike cheese. It leaves a film in your mouth like milk does. And that’s just yucky.

9. I don’t like getting water in my ears. So I plug them when I wash my hair. Apparently, I’m part cat.

8. I have an irrational fear of getting stuck in the bottom or top of an escalator. I hide it well, though.

7. The worst sound in the world? A dog whining. It will instantly raise my blood pressure.

6. I say “draw” instead of “drawer.” (Along with the rest of my family. It sounds completely normal in context).

5. I don’t care for chocolate. Vanilla is a flavor, people. Embrace it.

4. I don’t eat fish. Or shrimp. Or seafood of any kind.

3. I won’t drink a beverage without ice. Unless it’s water. And only if I have to.

2. On that note, I would much rather drink from a plastic cup than a glass. Or a mug. The thought of it accidentally clinking against my teeth makes me shudder.

1. I hate (yes, hate) being scared/spooked/startled.

Ok now. Your turn.

Tell me something (or 10 things) that makes you “unique.”

I can’t eat fish. At all. Can’t stand even the smell of seafood cooking. At all. Period.

I really truly think we will get along grandly one day if we meet! :) Ug, this post reminds me you tagged me in one and I haven’t written it. So sorry! Gotta do that……..instead of leaving a bunch of quirks. Lovin’ this post every day thing! :)

I love lists like this – so much fun! Here are a few of mine.

1. I love apples but can’t stand applesauce.
2. I can’t stand anything but white sheets on my bed.

How can you not LOVE cheese?! omg… I would die without it. DIE, I tell you! ;)

I don’t like tomatoes, unless they’re diced. Weird? Probably.
I have a “rational” fear of flying… at least that’s what I tell myself.
I’ll admit, I have an irrational fear of needles, syringes, etc… that would be used to poke me. I don’t care if they’re poking someone else.

That’s all I’m giving up today :)

Fascinating facts – do your boys like seafood? Not see food ;)

I can never buy the first item on a shelf. I always take from behind. Always.

I LOVE cheese, chocolate, and shrimp, and I can’t stand to drink from a plastic cup – it has to be glass. Too funny!!

-I am also like Jen@ourdailybig top….I cannot buy the first item, ever.
-I can’t fall asleep until I’ve made one last trip to the bathroom
-I hate onions but love onion rings
-I hate potatoes but love french fries…unless they taste too “potatoey” (yes that is a word)
-I plan events months in advance (birthdays, Christmas, etc)
-Once I start doing something, I cannot stop until all “loose ends” are tied up

That’s all I can think about for now!

OK – I will try – I gag when someone talks about boogers and poop – I LOVE seafood – When I “See Food” I eat it – I think if I was 13 or 14 #5 (Jen’s) answer would make me giggle because you could take her answer any way. I love to freeze my water bottles to keep them ice cold for the gym but then I don’t drink it till it is all melted – I let my two puppies sleep with me and they take over the bed – thats ok by me – I have a problem – I start a project and if a tool or something is needed half way thru, I forget what I was doing and go do something else. I cry too much. Where you hate chocolate, I can sit and eat a bag of peanut butter cups (from the freezer) If I see a dandelion It drives me nuts and I have to use my special digger to get it (I have at least 5 diggers) I can not go out of the house without having my hair done – no way no how. OK – that’s it for now, if I think of others I will let you know. Oh yeah, I have a thing for little old men (except the ones that smell like pee and old man smell)

I have this weird thing where I love to act “ghetto.” You know, saying “fo shizzle” or “hecks to the yeah” and other horribly stereotypical sayings, which sound absurd coming from my pasty blonde self.

I also have this strange thing where I sometimes forget important things about me. Like the fact that I am not at ALL creative or crafty. And I’ll decide to take on a creative and crafty project. Not a little one. A big one. Usually about half way through I remember who I am and realize that I must have thought I was someone else when I purchased 16 yards of fabric for such and such project…

This was a great list!

A few things that make me “unique”…
* I don’t like milk and haven’t had a glass of it since I was about 8 years old (and, even then, I was forced to drink it).
* I was homeschooled through 8th grade.
* I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in 2 years.
* I can speed read.
* I type one-handed…really fast.

That’s all for now. I’m trying to put together the final touches on my Tuesday Tours column so that I can publish it before it’s Wednesday… ;)

1. I love plain yogurt! I know it’s sick but I eat it right out of the container.
2. Even though I know it’s happening, and I promised myself it would never happen, I’m turning into my mother and I don’t even mind it now.
3. I can’t relax. I try to relax, which stresses me out and makes me think about why I can’t relax.
4. I hate Nicole Kidman. I have no idea why, I just do.
5. I believe spinach goes with everything!
6. I’m a Coffemate addict: Fat Free French Vanilla
7. Even though they drive me nuts, I have to have an animal of some sort in my house at all times.
8. There are more…I know there are more… but it’s stressing me out sitting here when I could be doing something more productive like cleaning the carpets.

That was truly enjoyable to read! I was surprised at how few of those I knew! You are very unique, Becca… :-) Now you have me thinking about my quirks… hmm…
