I think I'd take it to the dry cleaners and let them deal with it. If not, wash it separately on cold/delicate and hang to dry. Hope this helps!

Wash it with your darks on cold. Then hang it dry by folding in half over a hanger hung from your shower rod. Or hang it directly on the shower rod if you don't have a rust problem.

I like the idea of using the Color catcher sheet too for the first five or so washes. Maybe not even that many-- but I'm a little OCD.

I tend to love clothes like that with striking colors ie. bright next to white, or dark next to light. But then I'm always sad when a red and white shirt fades into pink and red. So color catcher sheets would be a good idea.

What does the label say? Does it say "hand wash" or "wash seperately" or "wash with like colors?"

Also, pay attention to the recommended temperature on the label.

I would wash the dress by hand the fist time in the sink with vinegar to set to the black. If it doesn't bleed, I would wash it with lights or darks on cold. I have several things like this: little girls' dresses with black velevet tops and light colored plaids on the bottom, red dresses with white collars, etc.

If you closely at your labels, you may be surprised to find that most labels recommend washing on cold. I wash most of my things on cold (except for towels and underwear, and kitchen washcloths).

Because its from Old Navy I would say hand wash it, or if you can dry clean.
I like Old Navy clothes, but I always notice after one wash the material starts to droop or get stretched out and looks worn down. The dress is nice and looks like it is made of nicer fabric then Old Navy's shirts but just to be on the safe side I would hand wash and drape it over your shower rod in the middle of the dress to dry or lay flat.

Good point! I usually wash things like that buy themselves or with other delicate items. You could put it with darks and use a Color Catcher.
