I need some help this week…
I bought this adorable (and comfortable) dress at Old Navy this weekend:
And it poses a huge problem for me.
See, when I do laundry, I sort it into 5 piles.
Blacks, darks, lights, whites, and towels and underwear (combined. on hot).

Do you have a darks pile? That’s what pile it would go in were it in my hamper…

I have a delicates pile that I would put that in. For you though, I think you’d be save with whatever you wash your yoga pants in!

Wear it and never wash it pile…no kidding! I’d say handwash, but what if that black bleeds into the white? Wait for a rainy day and stand under those droplets, with shampoo in your hair. :)

Who has time for laundry?

Darks I think. If it were washed on hot/warm with whites it would fade the black.

Darks. Throw in a “Shout Color Catcher” sheet in the washer and dryer with that load, and you’ll be all set! :-)

Do you have time to wash it separetly? If not, I think I’d put it with the darks.

Good point! I usually wash things like that buy themselves or with other delicate items. You could put it with darks and use a Color Catcher.

Because its from Old Navy I would say hand wash it, or if you can dry clean.
I like Old Navy clothes, but I always notice after one wash the material starts to droop or get stretched out and looks worn down. The dress is nice and looks like it is made of nicer fabric then Old Navy’s shirts but just to be on the safe side I would hand wash and drape it over your shower rod in the middle of the dress to dry or lay flat.

What does the label say? Does it say “hand wash” or “wash seperately” or “wash with like colors?”
Also, pay attention to the recommended temperature on the label.
I would wash the dress by hand the fist time in the sink with vinegar to set to the black. If it doesn’t bleed, I would wash it with lights or darks on cold. I have several things like this: little girls’ dresses with black velevet tops and light colored plaids on the bottom, red dresses with white collars, etc.
If you closely at your labels, you may be surprised to find that most labels recommend washing on cold. I wash most of my things on cold (except for towels and underwear, and kitchen washcloths).

I say dark too and on cold. We wash everything in cold unless there are critters ;)

Toss it out buy new.

Wash it with your darks on cold. Then hang it dry by folding in half over a hanger hung from your shower rod. Or hang it directly on the shower rod if you don’t have a rust problem.
I like the idea of using the Color catcher sheet too for the first five or so washes. Maybe not even that many– but I’m a little OCD.
I tend to love clothes like that with striking colors ie. bright next to white, or dark next to light. But then I’m always sad when a red and white shirt fades into pink and red. So color catcher sheets would be a good idea.

Haha… Aunt Marge!
I’d hand wash it or wash it by its self on cold:)

I always hate dilemmas like that! Very cute dress, though!

I think I’d take it to the dry cleaners and let them deal with it. If not, wash it separately on cold/delicate and hang to dry. Hope this helps!
