Big Lesson Learned

What-I-Learned-This-Week

What I learned this week…

Hmmm…. let me see…

Oh, I know!

I learned that when buying a fancy schmancy new MacBook Pro for yourself, do not – I repeat – DO NOT put off backing it up.

Because if you were to put that off, you might possibly have lost (approximately) 976 pictures, 146 blog posts, progress notes/IEPs/lesson plans for 26 students, and one almost ready to publish blog giveaway.

We’ll find out tomorrow if they can be retrieved.

By the way… Do you know what the computer was doing while it crashed?

Yup.

Backing up for the first time.

I was so proud of myself for finally doing it that I took a picture.

Damn. Damn. Damn.

I know you have a few very good friends that are computer savvy and they will help you out. If not, just fly me out there and I will work on it for you. Me your Mother, who can’t even get music from itunes. But fly me out and I will try. :)

That is totally crappy. Which is why I save all my important stuff on a thumb drive and threaten little lives if they are ever missing! Thankfully, they’ve never gone missing. I may cry if that every happens. I hope you get recover everything.

Oh, man…I know the feeling. Try Carbonite. Carbonite rocks!!! It backs up automatically, and constantly (as in all day long), and you don’t have to do anything. When my computer crashed last year, I had to get a new one, and all of my old files were restored PERFECTLY and wonderfully and I now have a love affair with Carbonite. Seriously.
