Mom is back at work! It really is nice to get out of the house a couple of times a week… and I get to hang out with other people’s kids, too. That’s kind of fun.
Today, I had a student tell me “PE is much more important than speech. You should let me out of speech every week because I keep missing PE.”
Priorities, priorities…
The school that I work at is about 1 mile away from where Jack goes to preschool. We have been talking all (school) year about how I could pick him up for lunch, but it hasn’t panned out until this week. I was so excited!
I arrived at his school right before lunch and went out to the playground to get him. Are you ready for this?
Jack: “Mom, can you let me have lunch here today?”
Mom: “But Jack, I thought you wanted to go to Subway with me for lunch.”
Jack: “I did, but now I want to play with Zander.”
Mom: “How about we go to lunch and you can play with Zander when you get back?”
Jack: “Ohkay…….”

I think he had fun.
But today when I walked him in to school, he looked up at me and said, “Mom, you’re going to let me have lunch here today, right?”

Man, that’s rough!
Kids can make your heart swell with love and pride one minute, then break it the next, huh? Save that story for his first girlfriend :)

That is the sweetest story and the best picture! You two are so cute. Why do these kids want to grow up so fast?

Kids can be so humbling, can’t they? Catie did something similar to me the first day I went to volunteer at her preschool. I wasn’t there 5 minutes before she said, “You can go now.” Gee, thanks kid!
Very cute picture!

Your picture made me smile…little boys and their priorities. One minute you’re the center of their universe and then they’ve moved on. I bet lunch was full of many laughs.

Sad when a soggy PB & J with Zander is more appealing to a five-year-old than a lunch excursion to Subway with mom. Shows how you rate. :)

Aww… What an awesome picture!
Will you tell him to stop growing so fast?!!

They are hard to please! My daughter always wants me to pick her up as soon as I can after work. The other day I got there early and she was mad because they were in the middle of a game! What can a mom do?! Love the picture of you two!

Laughed out loud. Yup, my boys have done this to me too. S3 wants me to come to school to watch him on gym day so I can see him run and see the smoke come from his shoes as he ‘smokes’ everyone else. But if I show up at school, he asks me to leave so he can stay longer. Silly boys, gotta love ‘em tons and tons! Cute pic!

:) They grow up and they move on, much to our chagrin, don’t they?!
I think it’s neat that you “did lunch.” :)

That makes me want to come out there and take him to lunch, too. This is like that old song…. and he is growing up and becoming more independent way too fast. :(
