I’m not a scrooge.
Really, I’m not.
But…
When my backyard looks like this 2 weeks before Christmas?

It’s hard to catch the Christmas spirit.
The “spirit” usually hits me right after Christmas. When it’s cold and sometimes even snowy here.
Last year, it was 2 days after Christmas. Yup, snow in Tucson. Lots of it.

I was completely covered with Christmas spirit on December 27, 2008.
Yes, I am aware that my “watermark” says 2009. That’s because I am tired and don’t feel like fixing it. We’re friends here. I know you’ll understand.
Because for me, cold, snowy weather = Christmas.
It’s what I grew up with.
Anyway, the point is…
I need some help.
In the form of Christmas music.
On the way home tonight, the boys and I were singing our hearts out to our Christmas playlist.
It worked so well for us that I thought I would share.
Christmas Favorites – Mom’s edition
*Not all songs are available as MP3 downloads. If I couldn’t find the particular song to link to, I linked to the album and you’ll have to scroll down and look for “Listen to Samples”*
1. We Wish You The Merriest – Frank Sinatra (The best Christmas song ever… in case you’re wondering)
2. Baby, It’s Cold Outside – Dean Martin
3. Christmas Wrapping – The Waitresses (Did you know that the waitresses are not all women? I did not know that until now)
4. Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! – Dean Martin
5. A Holly Jolly Christmas – Burl Ives
6. Party for Santa – Big Bad Voodoo Daddy (The cutest song I’ve come across in quite a while. I dare you to not sing along.)
7. Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree – Brenda Lee
8. Winter Wonderland – Dean Martin
9. Santa Claus is Coming to Town – Complete tie between Bruce Springsteen & Frank Sinatra
10. Sleigh Ride – Ella Fitzgerald
Christmas Favorites – Michael and Jack’s edition
1. Up on the Housetop – Gene Autry (You just can’t beat hearing the kids sing along to this with their Ho-ho-hos and Click-click-clicks)
2. Is Zat You, Santa Claus? – Big Bad Voodoo Daddy (Again, the sing along is the best part)
3. The Chipmunks Song – The Chipmunks (Single-handedly the most annoying song I have ever heard. Personally speaking.)
4. Frosty the Snowman – Gene Autry
5. A Holly Jolly Christmas – Burl Ives
6. Santa Claus is Coming to Town – Frank Sinatra
7. Mr. Heat Miser – Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
8. Must Be Santa – Brave Combo
9. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer – Gene Autry
10. Run Run Rudolph – Chuck Berry (Jack’s favorite… I just don’t get it…)
So, are you in the spirit yet??
*Yes, these are affiliate links. Not because I get paid big huge bucks to link through to Amazon, but if we’re being honest here, I like to see how many people click on them. Because I am a dork like that.*

Just hearing the boys last night “Click, Click, Clicking” through the song got me in the spirit. And believe me, after our 4″ snow fall you really “Do Not” miss all this. Don’t forget, the mud (which is NO fun) after just getting carpets cleaned, the cold (gloves, and boots) and the ‘mud’, cleaning off of your vehicles, and the ‘mud’, no more flip-flops because of the frozen toes, and the ‘mud’. So, in the spirit of xmas, you have what you need right there in your back seat singing to the top of their lungs “Up on the roof top, click, click, click”………………………..And, we will be there this xmas.
Your back yard is beautiful! I just had to sit and stare at it and dream of that pool!! We have NO snow either right now, which is way weird for eastern washington, and it’s only 0 degrees this morning. I love that your ‘a dork like that’. too funny!

My boys are loving “Granny got run over by a reindeer”. They wanted to sing it on our answering machine. We didn’t.
Some news reports say we will be getting 30 inches of snow between 12/8 to 12/11. I think your pool is looking lovely right now….. :) Enjoy singing about hula hoops…
I love the Chipmunks! Come on now..
We are huge on Christmas Music right now, David Bowie with Bing Crosby, Trans Siberian Orchestra, Messiah…So many choices!

Have you seen that Amazon is giving away a free holiday song every day up to Christmas? Lots of fun songs to explore and listen to and best of all — free! My kids favorite is the Grinch song and I want a hippopotamus.

Oh Becca!!! Move here, we are in the midst of a winter storm. (and I’m LOVING every minute of it) “It’s not Christmas if the snow don’t fall”
Plus… as a bonus, they have not one but TWO radio stations dedicated to ONLY x-mas music from about Nov. 25th through x-mas day. I have a blog in the works about the storm and my love for MN winter. should be up later.
Thinking of you in AZ!
With love from MN.

Did you feel the different yesterday? Wow! Cute, cute photos, and Soren loved the snowman too, “Snowman!” I sure hope we can get out and build at least a little one with him this year. :)
Remind me to give you one of our homemade Christmas CD’s dubbed “Jeff’s Christmas music”. Titled that because before this CD, he hated Christmas music. He used to say that if it was any good it would deserve to be played all year long. This CD is very Mountain-esque. And I know most people won’t have a clue what I’m talking about, but you do. So just remind me. I’ll give you one.

This is fun! I’ve been looking for new songs for my Christmas play list. I have to say, I’m so jealous of your weather except this time of year, you are right, it SHOULD be cold. :-)
