What I learned this week…

What-I-Learned-This-Week

And what a week it’s been! Busy, busy, busy.

I learned that when your little boys go “rock hopping,” you hold your breath for just a little longer than necessary. Even when your oldest has super-sure footing that impresses everyone.

I learned that you can fit 9 people in a hot tub, but 1/2 of the water will splash out down into the pool as they are getting in. (The pictures are of their brother, who couldn’t make the party)

I learned that the human totem pole just gets more and more fun to watch every time it’s done!

I learned that flying on a 90-minute flight from Orange County to Phoenix ALONE allows for the perfect amount of “me time.”

I learned that when given a once in a lifetime opportunity (that might be exaggerating a bit, but you know what I mean) of a night out… a whole night out… with the girls, you will have lots of ideas in your head about what you might do. But when the time comes, you will have a nice dinner:

and a movie on the couch:

and that will make a perfect night. You’ll probably miss the little guys a bit, too.

I learned that if you take care of your body, buy fancy new running shoes, and wear your custom orthopedic old lady inserts you can safely run a 5k without injuring your feet further. You may not be able to run the 10 miles that you originally planned on, but you’ll run the 5k and be thankful for feet that are not broken anymore.

I learned that the pedicure you get after you run the 5k will feel better than any other pedicure you have ever received.

(Thank me for not adding another foot picture to my blog)

I learned that when you get sick the day that you get back from vacation, the lovely librarian that sits outside of your office at work will be nice enough to ignore the coughing fits that you have throughout the day and smile nicely when you leave for the afternoon when all she really wants to do is scream “GO HOME ALREADY, WILL YOU???” (Thanks, Molly!)

I learned that my neighbor’s homemade pasta e fagoli soup is almost worth getting sick for. Yum. I have the best neighbors.

Oh what fun times. The pictures on sticks in the hot tub are too funny. Boys are rocks, a perfect combination!

Well, I could be a “Mom” and say maybe you pushed it a little this weekend, especially when Michael was sick last week and then you had the weekend you did, but I won’t be a “Mom” I’ll be a friend and say “Good Job” “Congratulations” on your run and I am glad you did it. You were looking forward to it for a long time. Glad you had a good time at the Ludlum’s. Looks like the boys had a ball. How funny about those pics of the brother not there. We did that one year with Mom and Dad, Aunt Mank, Aunt Kate, and we drew a pic of Aunt Marge on a paper plate because she wasn’t there. Not quite as nice as the ones they had this weekend but the point was made.
Hope you feel better real soon.

OH Yeah, the human totem pole, think that this might be the last year? The boys will soon have to be holding Steve up

I love that Iron Girl picture! You look terrific.

I’m thinking about running in the Jingle Trail in mid-December, but I’m not sure I’ll be ready. I haven’t been running as consistently as I would like. Are you going to run in that one?

Yeah for the foot healing! Feet are awful when they are hurt.

Ladies’ nights are the best, and the ones spent watching movies are my favorite.

Congrats!!
