99… and … 100!

Today is a big day for me!

Guess what I saw when I logged on this week to post to my blog?

Picture 2

That’s right! This is my 100th post! It kind of snuck up on me.

In case you’re wondering, I’m having a party in my head right now.

100?”

“I’ve sat down at my computer and told stories to friends, family, and complete strangers 100 times?”

100 things have happened in my life since February that I thought were worthy enough of a blog post?”

Yup.

So let’s get on with it!!

For those if you that aren’t aware, it’s sort of a tradition to post a “100 things” list when you hit 100 posts.

And I am not one to buck tradition.

100 things = 100 things about me

That’s a lot of stuff about moi.

I guess you don’t have to read it all if you don’t want to.

You could skim it.

My mother, however, informed me that EVERYONE would read ALL 100 things. Because who wouldn’t want to know 100 things about her little girl? (Thanks, Mom!)

I also have some little people helping me celebrate around here. Mainly because I asked them to hep me celebrate, because we all know boys – They don’t usually do that sort of stuff on their own.

Mom: “Hey boys! You know that blog where I write embarrassing stories about you guys?”

Boys: “Um… no…”

Mom: “Well, you know when I am ignoring your desperate pleas for help and assistance while I am typing away on my computer?” (No, I didn’t really say that)

Boys: “Yes!!”

Mom: “Well, that’s what I am doing. Writing stories about how funny you guys are. Tomorrow is my 100th story. Will you make me a sign?”

Jack: “Who is turning 100?”

Mom: “Nobody is turning 100. I write stories about you guys when you do funny things and I wrote 100 of them. Can you make me a sign or not?”

Jack: “Am I turning 100?”

Mom: “Ugh.”

CIMG3405

CIMG3406

I must say, they’re pretty cute! (The boys AND the signs)

One hundred, One hundred, One hundred…

That’s what I have been hearing all week long. Jack is quite the counter, and this week, he learned how to count to 100 all by himself.  He quietly counts up, and every few seconds I hear a number “25….56….79….99…and…100!”

So, shall we begin?

1. I am a procrastinator.

2. I don’t like watching sports on tv.

3. I do like watching Grey’s Anatomy, Modern Family, and Private Practice.

4. I am from Upstate New York.

5. I have only been to New York City once.

6. That’s ok with me.

7. My elementary, middle, and high school were all named Ichabod Crane.

8. The school mascot was a headless horseman. (Seriously.)

9. I have a little brother.

10. He’s not so little. He’s over 6 feet tall.

11. We don’t ever always see eye to eye, but I love him. A lot.

12. I failed P.E. in high school.

13. Yes, all four years of it.

14. I had to write a lot of papers about sports in order to graduate.

15. It’s really hard to write little snippets of information about yourself. And I’m only on 15.

16. I can’t watch tv without a book, magazine, or computer on my lap.

17. I have a very short bucket list.

18. I want to eat at Carnegie Deli. The closest I’ve gotten are the Carnegie Deli pickles at Costco.

19. I want to see my kids love their own kids as much as I love them (my kids). Did that make sense?

20. I want to see Dave Matthews at Red Rocks.

21.I want to go see a baseball game at Fenway Park just to hear “Sweet Caroline” during the 7th inning stretch.

22. I want to give each of my boys a surprise party.*Bucket list is over*

23. I used to be a nail technician.

24. I had very long nails, and I don’t think I could have them again.

25. I feel a little funny wearing a skirt.

26. Jeans are  much more my speed.

27. If I could go anywhere I wanted, just for one day, it would be to New Hampshire during the last week of October.

28. I don’t like maple syrup.

29. Or salad dressing.

30. Or mayo. Yuck.

31. I don’t eat fish. They smell bad and taste nasty.

32. I only eat melted cheese (as opposed to non-melted cheese, not as opposed to other food).

33. I have been called “quirky” on more than one occasion.

34. I think I’m just unique. :-)

35. I don’t have an accent, but I do say “draw” instead of “drawer.”

36. I don’t smoke.

37. I don’t like beer.

38. But I wish I did.

39. I love pajamas.

40. And bedtime on laundry day. Clean sheets make me happy.

41. I take a minimum of 2 showers a day. I think I get that from my Dad.

42. During the summer, I usually take 3 or 4 showers a day.

43. I might be the only blogger out here who doesn’t LOVE Disney.

44. It’s not my fault. (I like Disney!)

45. I LOVE Dave Matthews.

46. All it takes is a few seconds of #41, Ants Marching, Dancing Nancies, or Two Step to make me forget about a bad day.

47. My kids cover their ears and pretend to cry when I turn on a Dave Matthews song.

48. I do it a lot when they’re not behaving.

49. Because I think it’s funny.

50. My idea of an absolutely perfect date is a lawn seat and a frozen margarita at a DMB concert with my hubby.

51. It’s happened twice!

52. I have a bachelor’s degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from the University of Arizona.

53. I have a master’s degree in Special Education/Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing.

54. It would take a LOT of bribing to get me back in school.

55. I get terrible migraine headaches.

56. They sneak up on me about 3 times a week.

57. They suck.

58. I am very happy when things don’t change too much.

59. My husband is good for me because he likes change.

60. I think he’s the reason we live in a beautiful house and drive nice cars.

61. Not because he pays for them, but because I would have stayed in an apartment forever and driven my car until it died.

62. Things like that make us a perfect match.

63. During the summer, I get pedicures every 2 weeks. Have you ever lived in Tucson during the summer? It’s necessary.

64. I always get french polish. I got my toes painted red once and Jack kept pulling at my toes trying to get it off.

65. I never polish my fingernails.

66. Are you skimming?

67. I hate my hair. Sometimes it’s straight, sometimes it’s curly, but it’s always frizzy.

68. Having kids was the best thing that I ever did.

69. I can’t imagine my life without them and their daily antics.

70. My boys know all the words to the top 20 songs on the radio.

71. It’s hilarious, and sometimes a little embarrassing.

72. I am a speech therapist in a middle school.

73. I often think that if I wasn’t a speech therapist, I would be in marketing. Writing commercials or something. It sounds fun.

74. I fractured both of my feet in April.

75. Do you have any idea how much you rely on your feet?

76. I started to re-fracture them a couple of weeks ago when I took a few really good kickboxing classes.

77. Talk about frustrating.

78. I love, love, love giving gifts.

79. I don’t so much like receiving gifts.

80. I believe that everyone should have a birthday cake every year.

81. I have 2 tattoos.

82. I used to have 3.

84. I hope to one day have 0.

85. You should think long and hard before you get a tattoo.

86. I once had a cat named dog.

87. When it died, I looked for a replacement. I called him DJ (Dog Jr.).

88. If my kids say a bad word, I usually have to run, hide, and laugh before I can yell at them.

89. The one snowfall per year that we get in Tucson is quiteenoughforme.

90. I am addicted to my blackberry.

91. I cannot decorate to save my life.

92. So I paint the walls of my house and hope that people don’t notice the missing artwork.

93. I often speak waaayyyy before I think.

94. I am working on that.

95. I don’t drink coffee. Unless it’s “girlie” coffee. Like a peanut butter mocha…yum…

96. I don’t know how to make coffee. I’m not kidding.

97. I haven’t gone a day without a Coke in… well, a long, long, time.

98.  I eat peanut butter every day.

99. I wish my temper wasn’t so short. I’m working on that, too.

100! I am very thankful for the friends and family that read my blog!

Wow… You still there?

Hello?

Just one more thing.

I run into a lot of people (and you all know who you are) who say “I loved your blog post last night! I read it all the time!”

Could you all do me a favor?

Just this one time?

Leave me a comment and say hello. Let me know you were here so I don’t write about you one day. Thanks!

And thanks for all the support that I get from everyone – my amazingly amazing friends and family!

I read each and every word. If for no other reason than to prove that mothers are always right. Okay. You got me. That’s not really why. Sorry Mom.

I LOVE your 100 things about me. About you, I mean. Not me. But I loved them. And I didn’t know you had the DMB obsession. Would it pain you to know that even though I’ve heard the name before, I wouldn’t be able to name a single DMB song? Sorry. We can still be friends though, right?

Tell you what. I’ll work with you on the Disney love thing. And you work with me on the DMB thing. We’ll meet somewhere in the middle.

    Happy 100th post!

How funny, I knew probably 99.9% of the 100. The baseball game at Fenway Park threw me off. But anyway, I read every one and loved every one. Except that I didn’t see the one I love the most, #1. My Mom is my best friend. Searched for that and didn’t see it, but you know what, I know it. So that’s ok. Congratulations on your blog – very proud of it and love to read it, as a matter of fact look forward to it.

Believe it or not, I have never knowingly read a blog; thus, your 100th is my 1st. With me being from Alabama, though, that shouldn’t surprise you!! I really enjoyed your blog…..you’re as funny as ever. I feel like I “caught” up with you a little. It makes my heart hurt a little too because we are so far apart in so many ways…… :-(

Happy 100th post! I didn’t skim a bit. I find these “100 things” posts completely and totally fascinating.

You strike me as a confident, fun, and interesting person.

A few comments about your list:
    A. I don’t like watching sports on TV either. Boring! Thankfully, my husband isn’t a big fan of it either.
    B. I prefer jeans too (In fact, I’m wearing them right now)…but I also love wearing skirts too…especially with boots.
    C. I can’t believe you don’t like “regular” cheese. Have you ever had Tillamook? Maybe that brand would change your mind. ;)
    D. I don’t know how to make coffee either. I should probably learn.
