What do you do?

What do you do when your kids are “bummed?”

We had a mopey 9 year-old boy here today. He didn’t know why he was sad, and neither did we.

We had friends over swimming in the morning, then we ate lunch and went swimming again. What’s to be sad about?

When Dad came home this afternoon, though, he put an end to it.

He took his wallet and phone out of his pockets, and went to find the unhappy little boy.

He took him out of the playroom,

walked him outside,

and jumped in the pool with him. Clothes and all.

Riley (the dog) was a little upset about the whole thing.

And so was Michael, at first.

But then Dad did a backflip into the water.

And don’t you know that everything is better after a backflip?

There is a happy ending. Michael is feeling better.

So… what do you do?

What a great dad! And a great mom for catching every bit of it on film!

Every boy needs a back-flippin’ kinda dad like that. Okay, not *my* kids maybe. Backflips in our backyard wouldn’t be nearly as cool. They’d likely end up with an ambulance ride or something and that’s no way to cheer somebody up. But in your backyard? Backflippin’ dads are the best.

Sometimes it takes a crazy dad to get you out of bummer mode!

What a great dad! Sometimes the tickle monster makes an appearance to chase away the grumpies here. My husband will do anything to get a laugh. FUN!

Great parenting skills on both Mom and Dad’s part. Life is good in Tucson and I am so glad.
